Disability personal training provides personalised fitness and exercise support tailored to an individual’s goals, abilities, and support needs.
Personalised disability personal training in Ivanhoe to build strength, fitness, confidence and independence — at a pace that works for you.

At Mind & Body Support, we provide personalised one-on-one personal training to help people with disability build strength, improve fitness and mobility, develop confidence with exercise and work towards greater independence.
Every program is tailored to the individual. We start by understanding your current abilities, exercise experience and goals before developing a program that can be adapted and progressed over time. Sessions can take place at home, in the community or at suitable fitness facilities, depending on your needs and preferences.
Our personal training services are available to self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, as well as private and self-funded clients. Whether personal training can be funded through an NDIS plan depends on the participant’s individual circumstances, goals and available funding.
We provide one-on-one disability personal training across Ivanhoe and surrounding suburbs.
Disability personal training is personalised exercise support designed around the individual rather than a standard, one-size-fits-all program. Sessions can be adapted to suit a person’s abilities, movement, exercise experience, confidence and individual goals.
Depending on the person, training may focus on building strength, improving general fitness, developing balance and coordination, becoming more confident with movement, or simply establishing a regular and enjoyable exercise routine.
The level of support can also be adjusted over time. Exercises may be modified, broken into manageable steps or progressed gradually as confidence and ability develop.
You may also see this type of support described as adaptive personal training, inclusive personal training or disability-focused exercise support. While the terminology can vary, the focus is the same: creating an exercise experience that works with the individual’s abilities, preferences and goals.
Every personal training session in Ivanhoe is tailored to the individual. Your trainer can adapt the exercises, pace and level of support around your abilities, goals and how you're feeling on the day.
We check in on how you're feeling, how previous sessions have gone and what you'd like to focus on.
Your session begins with suitable movement and activities to help prepare your body for the exercises ahead.
Work through exercises selected around your goals, which may include strength, balance, coordination, mobility or cardiovascular fitness.
Exercises can be modified to suit your abilities and progressed over time as your confidence, fitness and skills develop.
We review how you're progressing towards your goals and adjust your training program where appropriate.
Before developing your exercise program, we take the time to understand you, your current abilities and what you want to achieve. This helps us create a personalised approach to training that is practical, achievable and relevant to your individual goals.
Every personal training program is tailored to your abilities, interests and goals, with exercises adapted and progressed at a pace that works for you.
We have extensive experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Down syndrome, Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and developmental delays.

Mind & Body Support was founded by Jim, a disability support worker with more than 15 years of involvement in the fitness industry and experience supporting people of different ages and abilities since 2020.
Jim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is currently completing his Certificate III and IV in Fitness and Personal Training. His background brings together disability support, an understanding of behaviour and wellbeing, and a long-standing passion for health, fitness and movement.
Having worked across schools, community programs and one-on-one disability supports, Jim understands that exercise is not one-size-fits-all. Personal training is approached with the same individual focus as every Mind & Body Support service, taking the time to understand each person’s abilities, interests, confidence, support needs and goals.

Disability personal training can be adapted for people with different abilities, levels of exercise experience and individual goals. Support is shaped around the person, helping make movement and physical activity more accessible, achievable and enjoyable.

Support to build confidence with movement, exercise and physical activity in a way that feels engaging, achievable and appropriate for the individual.
Start gradually with personalised guidance and exercises adapted to current ability, confidence and previous experience.
Develop greater confidence participating in exercise, following routines and becoming more comfortable in gym and physical activity environments.
Gradually rebuild an exercise routine after time away, with activities progressed according to individual confidence, ability and goals.
ADAPTIVE EXERCISE
There is no single exercise program that works for everyone. Our approach starts with the individual and adapts exercise around their abilities, goals, interests, pace and environment.
We start with what you can currently do. Exercises can be adapted or modified to suit your movement, ability and level of exercise experience.
Your program can be shaped around goals such as developing strength, improving general fitness, building movement confidence, establishing an exercise routine or participating more regularly in physical activity.
Exercise is easier to engage with when it includes activities you actually enjoy. Where possible, sessions are shaped around your interests and preferred ways of being active.
There is no need to keep up with a standard program. Activities can be introduced gradually and progressed as your confidence, experience and abilities develop.
The environment can make a big difference to how comfortable someone feels exercising. We consider the setting, equipment, level of support and other factors that can help make exercise more accessible and enjoyable.
Create an exercise experience that works with the individual — not expect the individual to fit a standard program.
