Social & Recreational Support Melbourne

Supporting Independence Through Social & Community Access

Social and recreational activities are important for building confidence, independence, and overall well-being. At Mind & Body Support, we help participants safely access the community and engage in activities they genuinely enjoy, whether that’s attending AFL games, going to the gym, exploring hobbies, or participating in local outings and events across Melbourne.

Our one-on-one support encourages participants to build social confidence, develop routines, strengthen communication skills, develop social skills, and feel more comfortable navigating community environments at their own pace.

Our services are available to NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed, as well as private and self-funded clients. No matter how your support is funded, we work with you to create flexible, person-centred support that fits your goals, your routine, and your budget.

SOCIAL & COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

PERSON-CENTRED SUPPORT

Social Support Should Be Built Around the Person

There is no single activity that suits everyone. Some participants may want support attending busy community events, while others may prefer smaller activities, one-on-one outings or gradually becoming comfortable in new environments. We tailor support around the person rather than expecting the person to fit the activity.

AFL Games, Sporting Events & Community Activities

We support participants to attend AFL games, live sporting events, community activities, and social outings they enjoy. From catching the train to the MCG together, grabbing food before the game, or supporting participants through busy social environments, we provide personalised assistance that helps individuals feel comfortable and included. Our goal is to help participants confidently access the activities they enjoy while building social skills, routine, and independence along the way.

Hobbies, Interests & Recreational Activities

Everyone’s interests are different. We support participants to engage in hobbies and recreational activities that are meaningful to them, including:

  • AFL games and sporting events
  • Gym sessions and fitness activities
  • Gaming, movies, and entertainment outings
  • Cafes, shopping, and local community activities
  • Walking, outdoor recreation, and parks
  • Creative hobbies and personal interests
  • Social events and community participation

We encourage participants to explore activities that build confidence, social connection, and enjoyment while supporting their personal goals and well-being.

Gym Visits & Health-Focused Activities

Fitness and movement can play an important role in building confidence, improving mental well-being, creating routine, and encouraging greater social participation. At Mind & Body Support, we support participants to stay active through personalised one-on-one assistance tailored to their interests, comfort levels, and goals.

Our team can accompany participants to the gym, fitness classes, sporting activities, walks, outdoor recreation sessions, or other movement-based activities while providing encouragement, motivation, and practical support throughout the experience. Whether someone is completely new to exercise or already enjoys regular fitness activities, we focus on creating a supportive and positive environment that helps participants feel comfortable and confident.

For many individuals, physical activity can also help improve social confidence, emotional well-being, routine building, independence, and overall quality of life.
